A Wide-field Corrector at the Prime Focus of a Ritchey–chrétien Telescope
نویسنده
چکیده
We propose a form of a lens corrector at the prime focus of a hyperboloidal mirror that provides a flat field of view up to 3◦ diameter at image quality D80 < 0.8 arcsec in integrated (0.32– 1.10 μm) light. The corrector consists of five lenses made of fused silica. Only spherical surfaces are used, so the system is capable of achieving better images, if necessary, by aspherizing the surfaces. The optical system of the corrector is stable in the sense that its principal features are retained when optimized after significant perturbations of its parameters. As an example, three versions of the corrector are designed for the V.M.Blanco 4-m telescope at Cerro Tololo InterAmerican Observatory with 2◦.12, 2◦.4, and 3◦.0 fields of view. c © 2004 MAIK “Nauka/Interperiodica”.

All-spherical catadioptric telescope design for wide-field imaging.
The current trend in building medium-size telescopes for wide-field imaging is to use a Ritchey-Chrétien (RC) design with a multilens corrector near the focus. Our goal is to find a cost-effective alternative design to the RC system for seeing-limited observations. We present an f/4.5 all-spherical catadioptric system with a 1.5° field of view. The system consists of a 0.8 m spherical primary a...
متن کاملWide-field Corrector for a Gregory Telescope
A form of prime focus corrector for the Gregory system is proposed that provides the sub-arcsecond field of view up to 3 in diameter for the spectral range 0.35 − 0.90 microns. The corrector includes five lenses made of same glass (fused silica is preferable). The distinctive feature of the corrector consists in dissimilar use of the central and edge zones of a front lens disposed in the exit p...
متن کاملWide-field prime-focus Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes: A systematic study
By means of third-order optical theory as well as ray-tracing simulations we have investigated the feasibility of wide-field imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes with a reflective prime-focus design. For a range of desired optical resolutions, we have determined the largest available field-of-view of single-piece spherical, singlepiece parabolic, tessellated spherical, tessellated parabolic...
متن کاملThe Dark Energy Survey Instrument Design
We describe a new project, the Dark Energy Survey (DES), aimed at measuring the dark energy equation of state parameter, w, to a statistical precision of ~5%, with four complementary techniques. The survey will use a new 3 sq. deg. mosaic camera (DECam) mounted at the prime focus of the Blanco 4m telescope at the Cerro-Tololo International Observatory (CTIO). DECam includes a large mosaic camer...
متن کاملO ct 2 00 8 A 15 ◦ Wide Field of View Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescope
Contemporary imaging air Cherenkov telescopes (IACT) for ground-based very high energy (VHE) gamma-ray astronomy have prime focus optical design. Typically these telescopes have a (2−4) wide field of view (FoV). They use F/0.7-F/1.2 optics and provide (3−10) ′ resolution in the FoV. Generally, a well designed telescope that includes more than one optical element will offer some advantages not a...
